EU Council President Donald Tusk has used the visit of Ireland’s Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to outline that a Canada-style Free Trade Agreement is still available for the UK

The deal would bypass the Chequers Plan which would require the UK to adhere to EU standards without any say – keeping the country half in, and half out.

In a tweet, Mr Tusk said “From the very beginning, the EU offer has been a Canada+++ deal. Much further-reaching on trade, internal security and foreign policy cooperation.”

The deal is the type most favoured by senior Brexiteers such as Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg as it would deliver on the referendum result in full.
